Mutants of Coprinus selected for resistance to D-glucosamine and L-sorbose.

چکیده
Mutants resistant to growth inhibition have been obtained by selecting on media containing inhibitory concentrations of either D-glucosamine or Lsorbose. All of the mutants isolated were found to be sugar transport-defective and cross-resistant to growth inhibition by the three analogues 2-deoxy-Dglucose, D-glucosamine and L-sorbose. Like the mutants previously selected for resistance to 2-deoxy-D-glucose, the new mutants described are all shown to be alleles of the/ir cistron.

Mutants of Coprinus lagopus selected for resistance to 2-Deoxy-D-glucose
The glucose analogue 2-deoxy-D-glucose seriously inhibits the growth of Coprinus lagopus. Following treatment with iV-methyl-iV'-nitro-i^nitrosoguanidine 388 resistant mutants were isolated. It is shown that the mutants isolated are probably allelic; they were phenotypically similar and no complementation was observed. The mutants were pleiotropic in the sense that although they were initially ...
متن کاملPathway of L-sorbose metabolism in Aerobacter aerogenes.
The pathway of L-sorbose metabolism in Aerobacter aerogenes was determined to be: L-sorbose ---f L-sorbose l-phosphate ---f D-glucitol 6-phosphate -+ D-fructose 6-phosphate. Phosphorylation of L-sorbose at C-l is mediated by a phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent phosphotransferase system, whereas r,-sorbose l-phosphate reduction and D-glucitol 6-phosphate oxidation are mediated by pyridine-nucleotide...
متن کاملUV and X-ray sensitivity of Candida albicans laboratory strains and mutants having chromosomal alterations.
Utilization of L-sorbose, D-arabinose or primary fluconazole resistance in Candida albicans are controlled by copy number of specific chromosomes. On the other hand, spontaneous morphological mutants have a wide range of chromosomal alterations. We have investigated the UV and X-ray sensitivity of these mutants, as well as C. albicans laboratory strains. While L-sorbose utilizing mutants had no...
متن کامل"No-growth"-complementation in forced heterokaryons from sorbose-resistant (transport-defective) Neurospora crassa mutants.
Studies on heterokaryons forced between sorbose-resistant (transport-defective) mutans of Neurospora crassa and a sorbose-sensitive (transport-intact) wildtype strain show that mutants sorr A-l and sorr B-57, mapping in separate linkage groups, are recessive to wildtype; a third mutant, not linked to the others, shows intermediate expression of the resistance character for one of two criteria c...
